Finding an age appropriate haircut has never been easy and finding an age-appropriate haircut that doesn't make you look older than you are is even more difficult. Whether you are in your 40s, 50s, or 60s, the right haircut can do wonders for looking younger.
Headline after headline declares 40 is the new 20, but we respectfully disagree. Women in their 40s are sexy, self-assured, and at the top of their game. Why go back? Whether you're looking for a dramatic change or just want to keep your hair long and lush, we've got the best cuts for you.

If you are in your 50's, our favorite cuts happen to be cuts you'd want at any age (with a few strategic tweaks here and there). We promise, there's not a single matronly style in the bunch. Finally, your sixties doesn't have to mean it's time to settle for "grandmother" hair. (Unless of course your grandmother happens to be Isabella Rossellini).

Check out all of our favorite (and highly recommended) cuts for any age!
Angela Bassett's short haircut is the anti-short short haircut: There is absolutely nothing predictable about it. "This cut works on all hair textures, and it's going to draw attention to your eyes, but also to everything else—your ears, your nose, your jawline," says Solano. "Adding a short, side-swept fringe can make it a little more wearable—and looks really cool—but it's still going to be a daring cut." One other bizarro but important factor to take into account: "This cut only works on certain head shapes," she says. "If you have a flat head, like I do, it's going to make the top of your head look square, and no one wants that.
Dana Delany rocks gentle curls with a red glow. Her long, side-swept layers and bounce give her look a youthful feel. Born with straight hair? Take a 2-inch curling iron and curl strands away from the face.

I hve very curly hair, and all these styles work best on hair that is easy to straighten, any styles for curly hair for those over 50?

Uncurly Brazilian Keratin Straightener
Hey, the whole reason we founded Uncurly was because all the hairstyles we liked were as you say--best on hair that is easy to straighten. We loved keratin for non-processed straightening--completely changed our lives--but we weren't willing to spend $450 every few months. And, the at-home keratin kits didn't make a dent. We've taken professional, superior salon quality keratin and made it DIY for about $20 a treatment, lasting 3-5 months.

Stephanie Jacks Me too!! Naturally curly hair is the pits in the summer, in Florida.

I had my hair about the same length as Diane Keaton's. I felt it was getting too long and it had it cut fairly short and layered and everyone says it makes me look 10 years younger. I am 61. My stylist says shorter hair not only makes you look younger but it makes you look thinnner. I'm surprised you didn't include some short cuts like Jamie Lee Curtis and Halle Berry's. I thought madonna looked vbetter with shorter hair. What about Annie Lennox and Cyndi Lauper?

Celeb's haircuts are amazing BUT the average everyday 0ver 50 have no stylist on hand for the upkeep. I love long hair but with age must settle for shorter. at least in my case. Recently decided to get a very short cut to comb back, using small curling iron or roller on sides for fullness. Then comb or brush back and up in back. Full on top and down a little on forehead, it's quite youthful and stylish. Love the comments from all friends and family. Go girl.

P.S. I also have naturally curley hair. It' perfect for the shorter style...:)

Most of these women also have had some work done to make them look younger, so it's not just the hair. And most average women can't afford to have work done! Also it looks so unnatural for 60 + women to have their faces stretched and their lips puffed up.Looks terrible in most cases.
